WOOLWICH SITE PROGRESS

We are excited to share some site photographs of a technically challenging design and its progress on site.

Working with IG Masonry Support we have developed a series of concentric brick slip arches to sit over in-situ brickwork, they range in size from 1.5m to over 4m wide and now they have been installed on site they look amazing.

As architects we would have loved to have made these in real brickwork, but due to the huge amount of underground services within the ground we could not get a foundation strong enough to support the forces the heavy brickwork would have created, so using a brick slip arch was the next best thing.

These are manufactured off site in an impressive set up in Swadlincote or 'Swad' if you're a local and delivered in sections to the site in Woolwich, the main arch below was made in 3 pieces, bolted together on site and expertly installed by Macai and overseen by site supervisor Tinkerbell.
